G. Lawrence is an independent author of historical fiction and fantasy concentrating on the stories of women in the Tudor and Medieval periods of British history.

Based in Pembrokeshire, Wales, and known to pen a fantasy, speculative historical fiction and a fairy tale retelling too, G. Lawrence delights in diverting her readers, taking them on journeys to other worlds and to the past, allowing them to view the world through the eyes of remarkable characters.

Meet G. Lawrence

When people ask me what I do for a living, I often have the urge to be honest, to say that I listen to the many voices in my head, write down what they say, and generally do as I am bidden in the telling of the tale. Quite often writing can feel like that, as if you, the writer, become a portal through which characters talk and stories flow. Thus books seem to arrive in a writer’s thoughts from some unseen, chaotic and indescribable world beyond ours, so that tales once wild and free may be tamed just enough so that writers can transcribe them, and so the reader’s imagination can grasp hold of them.

Of course, if I say such things, people tend to back away slowly and head for the nearest exit…

So generally I say, “I write books.”

And then, if they are interested enough, I’ll elaborate.

I write about people and times which intrigue me, about remarkable men and women of the past who I often see a little differently to how the historical record has painted them. I like to re-imagine fairy tales, to give them another twist, and I write a little fantasy too, imagining worlds not like our own.

So, welcome to the world of my books.
